Lynda Radley: Playwright

dramaturgy:
The clarity of the narrative is an essential ingredient ... and much of this achievement must be due to the dramaturgical input of Lynda Radley.  Having seen the work twice, I am confident that it is the most absorbing and satisfying piece of new narrative dance theatre made in the UK for several years.
London dance on Mark Bruce's dracula

  • Lynda is available to work as a dramaturg and has experience working with other writers as they develop their own plays, as well occupying the position of "the audience in the rehearsal room" on processes that do not involve a writer. She is currently working with choreographer Aakash Odedra.
  • Dramatugy roles include: The Gardener (Cumbernauld Theatre, Summerhall Edinburgh); Dracula by Mark Bruce, winner of Southbank Sky Arts award and nominated for a Critics’ Circle National Dance Award (Tobacco Factory Theatre, Wilton’s Music Hall, UK Tour); Granddad and Me (The Letter J, Imaginate Festival Edinburgh, Scottish Tour); Unusual Places To Dance (Tricky Hat, Cumbernauld Theatre); Dark Week nominated for an Irish Times Theatre award; The Heights (Playgroup); Pause With A Smile (The Arches, Traverse); Do A Dance No One Can See You Do And Put It In A Little Bag (National Theatre of Scotland); A Woman’s Place (Citizens’ Theatre).
  • Over the years she has developed a particular style of rehearsal room dramaturgy, and can provide a very clear explanation of what she does for those who may be unsure of what dramaugy is and whether they need it....
  • Lynda has also hosted 'talk-back sessions" for iMAGINATE and others. She can work with writers and theatre makers so that they get what they need out of any public sharing of early drafts of their work.
